Manager Profile: Allie Armstrong

Allie Armstrong’s path to becoming an MPW Account Manager for an Ohio auto manufacturer began in a pizza kitchen, where she started as a line cook at a local restaurant. Her ability to be to be organized, efficient, and able to work under pressure quickly earned her a promotion to manager, a role she held for several years. That early experience sparked her interest in management and created the foundation for her career.

In August 2021, Armstrong joined MPW as an Operations Support Specialist at the auto manufacturer, advancing to Operations Manager in April 2023. By July 2024, she had taken on her current role as Account Manager.

In her position, Armstrong ensures that the site runs smoothly while building strong relationships with her team and the customer. Her responsibilities include monitoring safety compliance, managing billing, submitting cost-saving measures to the customer, and collaborating with her operations team. “Collaboration with the management team is a huge part of running a successful site,” she said, emphasizing the importance of teamwork.

A typical day for Armstrong begins with reviewing turnover reports from shift supervisors and connecting with the customer liaison to address any concerns. From there, she focuses on ongoing tasks and projects, adapting to the dynamic nature of the work. “It never gets boring,” she said. “The ever-changing environment calls for quick problem-solving and decision-making, which can be challenging but also very rewarding.”

Armstrong advises those interested in similar roles to hers to focus on building strong relationships with both their team and their customers, as these connections are vital to long-term success. Leading by example, she takes great pride in being promoted to account manager at 27 years old. “To be in this position at my age I think is a testament to the importance of having a hard work ethic,” Armstrong said.

Looking ahead, Armstrong predicts significant changes on the horizon for the industrial services industry, particularly in the automotive sector. She points to the shift from gas-powered vehicles to electric ones, a transition that is already bringing changes to MPW customers’ factories. “We’re going to see a drastic change,” she says, highlighting her awareness of the industry’s evolving landscape.

Armstrong enjoys a balanced personal life. She recently got engaged to her fiancé, Joe, and together they care for their three cats—Ollie, Oscar, and O.J. In her spare time, Armstrong enjoys attending concerts, experimenting with new recipes, and spending time with family.
